- Rigobert Dittmann, Bad Alchemy
- Vittorio Lo Conte, All About Jazz Italy
- „…Drum duos are pretty much a tough sell but I have to admit that I found this one to be very strong, focused, musical and often intriguing. The drummers keep a running dialogue that evolves and expands through their four long pieces. Much of the time it sounds like one drummer playing a powerful drum solo, the playing is so well integrated. When we concentrate on drums only, we realize how much rhythm and melody is communicated so directly to us. These drums provide an explosive conversation that just keeps spinning and erupting in layers.“
- Bruce Lee Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery NYC
- „…If you sworn off caffein or whatever it is that used to get you going, take a morning re-constitunional by listening to this end-to-end. The extraordinary energy exerted (with taste) by Geisser and Onuma will undoubtely recharge you. Surely. …Rain of Light is a rain of sound. There’s nothing wistful, sensitive or refined about it. It’s pure visceral power. You need to have this if your heart has never quickened to a drum solo. This can give you that feeling in a huge way. Hurra for Geisser and Onuma.“
- Gregory Applegate Edwards, Cadence Jazz Magazine
Heinz Geisser - Shiro Onuma Duo
- „They interpret and define subdivisions and contours of the moment with an intuitive physical response – time deflected by touch, eight limbs constructing layers of tonal and rhythmic relationships, like the individual lines of a percussive madrigal. To do so they draw upon familiar role models, figures of symbolic influence – from Baby Dodds as precise tone scientist to Milford Graves as shaman; Elvin Jones as zen warrior and the orchestral demeanor of Max Roach. They recall Art Blakey’s tribal choirs, and John Cage’s reinvention of the percussion ensemble.“
- Art Lange, Chicago

The dynamic Heinz Geisser – Shiro Onuma duo creates a shimmering cosmos of orchestrated polyrhythms and shifting sound masses. The performance of the two drummers transmits energy of white heat as they act and react to each other at the speed of light. The duo was formed in 2005 and since has performed on an annual basis in Japan and the USA.
